"Jennifer is amazing. Her incredible writing guidance not only saved my grade, but also made navigating the long essays and tough literature more enjoyable. Her ability to make me laugh while teaching crucial reading and writing skills was a game-changer. Thanks to Jennifer's support and expertise, I was able to take my failing English grade all the way to an A. She has instilled confidence in my writing and reading skills that I will carry with me for the rest of my life."
- Julie Thompson, Westwood High '24

"Jennifer's unwavering partnership and encouragement were transformative in elevating my writing. Through her guidance, I was able to embrace my authentic voice, allowing it to shine at the heart of my work. She helped me reimagine my personal statement, bringing my emotions and personal experiences to the forefront in a way that felt genuine and powerful. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Jennifer, as her support not only refined my writing but also empowered me to tell my multi-dimensional story with true honesty."

"I am so grateful Jennifer was able to provide private tutoring for my daughter. She loved to write, but after receiving some unfounded criticism from an editor, she shut down and did not even want to look at her writing. Jennifer came in and worked magic with her. My daughter went from not even wanting to talk about her stories to starting new projects after her first session, and she loves writing again. No matter how tired she is, she always wants to attend individual sessions as well as workshops. Jennifer provides her not only with help around the writing process, but also support for what it is to BE a writer." - E.P., parent
Navigating college application essays can stress even the most committed and diligent student. Even if your child has a knack for writing, they might feel paralyzed by the application questions and how to articulate something revelatory about themselves in a way that showcases why they’re the best fit for a spot at their coveted university. If you want your child’s essay to stand out against the thousands that will flood admissions portals, I’m here to help. I have a PhD and decades of experience guiding young writers. I’m gifted at coaching students as they write stellar application essays that highlight their particular personal and academic journeys in a voice that’s uniquely THEM. In fact, students who’ve come to me for help with their college application essays circle back to me when it’s time to submit their graduate school application essays! Most students begin working with me mid-June and have their essays finished shortly after their senior year starts up. Others ease into the work in August and balance their essays with schoolwork and extracurricular activities for the first few months of school. Though many colleges use the same question for their main essay, almost all schools require supplemental essays as well. It’s a lot of writing and those deadlines creep up FAST. I absolutely love working with students at this exciting time in their lives, and I’m keen on bringing a sense of ease and lightness to the college application essay process. There’s nothing quite like the relief of a student - and their parent - when essays are complete. It’s even better when a student gets the news that they've been accepted into the college of their choice (or the major of their choice, because one does not always assume the other!). I live in central Austin, but I’m happy to work on Zoom and have done so with students in different parts of the country (and even a few outside of it).
